I stopped over in Kuala Lumpur International Airport as I was changing carriers from Airasia to Etihad. I had booked a day use room between dawn and evening. As it was I still had to wait a couple of hours until 0600 before the front desk allowed me to check in, ahead of the 0700 official check in. Unfortunately the lounge area was not air-conditioned but open air so there were mosquitoes.
In the evening, after checking in my luggage, I found this case of umlaut abuse.
I didn't want a heavy meal before boarding, and the airline would probably serve a late supper, so in the terminal I found a branch of the Din Tai Fung Taiwanese chain where I had a couple of steamer baskets of xiao long bao.
I think the previous basket was the normal xiao long bao as the dipping dish of ginger in vinegar suggests and this is a basket of sweet ones.
I didn't take any photos of the unremarkable flights from KL to Abu Dhabi, then to Lisbon. The story recommences in Lisbon, after I've reached my Airbnb lodging.
